a new chapter // news

I never would have expected that Steve and I would begin our married life together in Rogers City. I grew up coming here, nearly every Fourth of July. My aunt’s family owns a cottage on Lake Nettie in Hawks, so I was familiar with the area and already a big fan of Super Scoop. When Steve, my then boyfriend, heard about a job opening in October 2011 in Rogers City, it was truly one of those “small world” sort of moments. Or, a “wow, God” sort of moment. I joined him, as his wife, the following July, and we’ve loved being up here. I love being able to walk a few blocks to the beach (and do photo sessions at the beach!) and photographing the beautiful people here

Soon, our little family is beginning a new chapter of our lives, though. A new opportunity has opened up in Fraser, Michigan, and Steve has accepted a job at a Lutheran school there. We’re currently in the process of packing and saying goodbye.

What does this mean for Abi S Photography? Well, I’m now booking sessions and weddings in the metro Detroit area. I’m really looking forward to seeking out new locations and getting to know the area a bit more. Also, for those who may not know, I’ve worked a part-time job at local congregation in addition to the photography biz. Now, both with the move and a new addition to our family coming in November (eee! that's right!), I’m choosing to focus on the photography. I’ll be accepting more sessions and weddings, and I’m really excited to see where this will take me.

Steve and I will definitely miss Rogers City. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend the first two years of our marriage. And we’re very excited for the adventures that are ahead! God is good, and we’re excited to watch as His plan for us unfolds.
