Megan // class of 2016

This is one of those times that I'm reminded of how much I love what I do and how grateful I am for the people who I photograph. Meet Megan, full of vivacious joy and genuine beauty. I spent some time with her on an August morning in Rogers City, where she will be graduating from high school in the spring. She currently aspires to be a teacher, and I don't doubt that she will shine, wherever she goes.

Congratulations, dear Megan!

Tyler + Emily // wedding

At the beginning of this month I traveled up to Rogers City to photograph Tyler and Emily’s wedding, and, wow, I have been so eager to share their day with you all.

Never have I seen a Knights of Columbus hall so beautifully transformed. I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped. Every surface had a DIY shabby chic touch: flowers and lanterns graced the tables, lights and fabric covered the walls, and large prints of their engagement photos hung in handmade frames.

The ceremony highlighted their love for God, for each other, and for nature. The rain –thank goodness!– held off for portraits at his family’s farm. Their reception was jam-packed with people who love and care for them. It was a truly beautiful day, and I was so blessed to have witnessed it and created these photographs for them. Enjoy, friends.

Congratulations and God’s richest blessings on your life together, Tyler and Emily!

a new chapter // news

I never would have expected that Steve and I would begin our married life together in Rogers City. I grew up coming here, nearly every Fourth of July. My aunt’s family owns a cottage on Lake Nettie in Hawks, so I was familiar with the area and already a big fan of Super Scoop. When Steve, my then boyfriend, heard about a job opening in October 2011 in Rogers City, it was truly one of those “small world” sort of moments. Or, a “wow, God” sort of moment. I joined him, as his wife, the following July, and we’ve loved being up here. I love being able to walk a few blocks to the beach (and do photo sessions at the beach!) and photographing the beautiful people here.

Soon, our little family is beginning a new chapter of our lives, though. A new opportunity has opened up in Fraser, Michigan, and Steve has accepted a job at a Lutheran school there. We’re currently in the process of packing and saying goodbye.

What does this mean for Abi S Photography? Well, I’m now booking sessions and weddings in the metro Detroit area. I’m really looking forward to seeking out new locations and getting to know the area a bit more. Also, for those who may not know, I’ve worked a part-time job at local congregation in addition to the photography biz. Now, both with the move and a new addition to our family coming in November (eee! that's right!), I’m choosing to focus on the photography. I’ll be accepting more sessions and weddings, and I’m really excited to see where this will take me.

Steve and I will definitely miss Rogers City. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend the first two years of our marriage. And we’re very excited for the adventures that are ahead! God is good, and we’re excited to watch as His plan for us unfolds.

Cassie // senior

Cassie is a senior at Rogers City High School. She's the second oldest of six girls, a farm girl, a talented athlete. Her personality is radiant... she truly is beautiful, inside and out. I so enjoyed her senior session and getting to know her a bit more.

God's blessings on the next adventures in your life, Cassie!

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."
Proverbs 31:30

But, seriously. I'm just so blessed to photograph the most gorgeous people.
