Megan // class of 2016

This is one of those times that I'm reminded of how much I love what I do and how grateful I am for the people who I photograph. Meet Megan, full of vivacious joy and genuine beauty. I spent some time with her on an August morning in Rogers City, where she will be graduating from high school in the spring. She currently aspires to be a teacher, and I don't doubt that she will shine, wherever she goes.

Congratulations, dear Megan!

Joel // class of 2015

Oh, Joel. I don’t think I could get through this post without mentioning that he’s my little brother — the fifth of seven kids in our family— so I might as well start off with that. Photographing him (much like my other siblings), soon entering adulthood, allows me to reflect on how he’s grown into a mature man of God. Joel describes himself as pragmatic, competitive, and astute. I think I’d add that everyone likes Joel. There’s just something about him, always has been. He has a keen sense of humor and a magnetic, likable personality.

Joel will be graduating this June from Munising High School, where he is involved in tennis, Key Club, drama club, and student council. He’s a talented percussionist, and he’s incredibly intelligent. Every time I see him (in real life or on Skype), I ask him where he’s going to college. I think he’ll be making his decision last-minute, much like I did when I was his age. It’s never the same school in the running. :) But wherever he goes, and whatever he does, I know that he will excel, and he will serve God wholeheartedly.

Congrats, Joel! Looking forward to celebrating with you in June!

Leah // senior

It was a day I had greatly anticipated for years: Leah's senior session. Actually, it was a two-day session (one day straight hair, the other day au naturel). Two glorious days of photographing one of my best friends, my sister.

I could go on and on about how wonderful she is. We are really nothing alike, but I'd say we get along rather well. Her outgoing, loving personality is beautiful. She's a softball player and a dancer, and she loves people of all ages, especially kids.

We did this session when she still lived in St. Johns, but with a recent family move, she's finishing up high school in Munising in the Upper Peninsula. Leah plans to go to Concordia University Ann Arbor next fall, to major in Family Life and become a Child Life Specialist. I love you, girl!

Cassie // senior

Cassie is a senior at Rogers City High School. She's the second oldest of six girls, a farm girl, a talented athlete. Her personality is radiant... she truly is beautiful, inside and out. I so enjoyed her senior session and getting to know her a bit more.

God's blessings on the next adventures in your life, Cassie!

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."
Proverbs 31:30

But, seriously. I'm just so blessed to photograph the most gorgeous people.
